Using your logic, should one be able to get miles from flights that others take who don't collect miles? That costs AC more money, and guess who would end up paying for that? Yes, that's anyone who buys an AC ticket, in the form of higher fares.
As I specifically said in my post I can get why the Company would have an issue with this. In this case Esso as Esso has to pay for the miles. I would assume that the cost of the miles is already priced into the product. But I guess they assume that X% of people will collect miles. So I do see how it 'could' increase the costs for others.... valid point
