I am not identifying the hotel here since the issue has not been resolved and the outcome may still turn out to be satisfactory but I am wondering with what promptness I can expect a "left-behind" item to be sent to me.

The situation:

I had an overnight layover situation and because of the early 5AM departure grogginess, left my electric shaver and all toiletries including some medicine packed in my toiletries bag behind on the bathroom counter. Realized it after reaching another city and called them. The housekeeping found it.

I offered to pay for all charges if they could courier me the bag overnight. The hotel said payment was not needed and that they would send it the same day. This was early in the morning but a Sunday.

I called Monday morning and the person who could answer the phone was not aware of this issue and after enquiring said that they would send it out that day since the previous day was a Sunday. Took the address information all over again which I thought was strange.

Called late in the evening to see if it had been sent. He said after enquiring "it is just being sent now". He also said "he had to take it down to acounting" which I thought was strange. Asked if he could call me after sending it so I can track the package and make arrangements for someone to be around to receive it. Never got a call.

The only reason I am anxious about getting it is because of the medicine (I will live without it, it is not critical but would be nice to have) and I am leaving for the US on Wednesday and so the package arriving here after that would not be of much help.

I am a little bit annoyed because they are not doing what they have been promising to do. If they had told me they could not do it or that it would take a couple of days for them to deposit at the courier, I would have made alternate arrangements.

I realize it is my responsibility to not leave anything behind. But $%#$ happens.
Am I being unreasonable in my expectations here that they should be able to drop it off with the courier in 24-36 hours?
