Everybody assumes that it should be done on all occasions regardless. Not so necessarily and the airline would support a decision not to do the service under certain circumstances. None the less... Then there are the rules that apply to passengers - generally known as CFR's and/or company policies that, because they are included in the airlines cabin service regulations, are as enforceable as CFR's as far as the FAA is concerned. Those are the regulations that Flight Attendants are tasked with enforcing. They are, generally speaking, in place to ensure passenger safety or security. You may not always know the reasons why but then again you didn't complete a very intensive 6 week training course and be required to pass daily tests with a score of no less than 80%. As a passenger, nobody requires you to attend a yearly recurrent training class and pass or be fired. Nobody is necessarily expecting you to understand why we would be enforcing various rules, but if you respectfully ask I'm sure most would be happy to tell you. When we respectfully ask you to comply with the rules, which are in place for your safety, it's so refreshing when someone just respectfully complies. I'm not talking about the made up rules that some Flight Attendants like to impose. I can't defend those. Just the simple, universally understood rules (and universally ignored rules) like the seat belt sign. The lavatory rule. The no smoking rule. The electronic device rule. Just the little ones. I can't tell you how disrespectful it feels when you very politely ask someone to comply and they completely blow you off. It's just unbelievably rude. I would never just blow someone off in that same fashion. It's just not in my make up so I can't understand how so many others feel like it's completely reasonable and within their rights to be so rude.

So there you go. I enjoy coming to this site and providing my "side of the story" so that we all might better understand one another. I VERY much enjoy hearing everyone heres side of the story as well. I've made modifications to the things I do inflight as a result of the things I've read here. I try to wait until the very last possible minute to ask people to turn off electronics because of the frustration I read here. I try to always do the First Class pre-departure waters instead of coming up with reasons not to do them - because of the input I've read here. I try to make my MVP, MVP Golds and 75K guests as comfortable as possible because of the input I read here. My point is - I spend a fair amount of time reading and comprehending what you all have to say here so I guess I'm merely asking that you do the same with my post here as well. I'm just providing my view here. Hope it gives you a moment to consider how the FA's feel when they are blatantly disregarded.
I don't know if I have met you on any of my flights, but YOU (and your attitude) are the reason why I go out of my way at times to fly AS. Thanks!
Hopefully, you were one of the ones I gave chocolates to
