Can you bring a scanner (not transmitter, only receiver) onboard a Delta flight? I wouldn't ever turn it on, but would like to keep it with me for use in the airport and on my trip. Also, I don't trust putting it in my carry-on luggage. I asked Delta via e-mail, but they said it was prohibited from being on the plane or operated...

Delta's site says

Technically, a "scanner" is none of these... Thoughts?

If you are trying to listen to ATC/Tower/Etc why not just go with a free site like:

http://www.liveatc.net/

I listen on the plane all the time. Just about every freq/major airport clearance, ground, tower, approach, center is out there and in real time.
