Ruth's Chris Seasonal Menu

For those of you who want great steak without making a huge dent in your pocketbook, Ruth's Chris is offering their prix fixe menu again.

There are two options $39 and $49, with the difference being the entree choices.

For $39 you can select from:
Stuffed chicken
Broiled fish
6oz Filet with grilled shrimp

For $49 you can select from:
16oz Ribeye
12oz Filet

All come with your choice of appetizer (different salads or seafood gumbo), one personal side dish (the sides are HUGE - enough to share) and a cheesecake dessert.

We did one $39 option with the filet and one $49 option with the ribeye. The filet was small, but actually quite adequate unless you have a huge appetite and are very hungry. The ribeye was delicious, but the combination of some fat and the mound of butter sizzling on top almost made my heart stop.

Because we had dessert plans after dinner, we were allowed to exchange our dessert for an additional side - so we ordered creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, green beans and bacon-wrapped brussel sprouts. EVERYTHING was drenched in butter. We ended up taking some of the sides home, and the amount of fat that hardened in the bottom of the takeout boxes after refrigeration was absolutely staggering.

I think next time our plan is to order one steak (filet) each and one baked potato to share - probably the same total cost with less risk to our cardiovascular health.
