Is this right? (change/refund due to weather)
I must admit, I tend to only fly US as part of a TA itinerary, so my experience with domestic bookings is limited. I was due to fly MAN-EWR on CO tomorrow, and then EWR-CLT-CRW on US. CO have just cancelled due to the weather. This means I'm not going to make the US flights.
I call US, and they give me the following options :-
1.) Change the dates, and pay a change fee of $150.
2.) Cancel the itinerary, and get a credit of $45 against a future flight. (as in, I lose the value of the ticket but for $45.)
I query why the travel waiver displayed on the website doesn't apply to my ticket. So far this evening, two separate agents have said "because it's a cheap ticket." It is (albeit I'm not sure $350 counts as that cheap - but, it is a T fare), but I thought the whole point of a travel waiver was, well, that fees got waived.
I should say that I've only asked for a change of two days, as that's where my CO flights are moving to.
I guess the moral is - don't buy individual tickets when travelling a long way. Or ever.
