Vouchers vs. "Account Credit": Did I just get had?
Hi. Up until three weeks ago, I've never had a voucher. Now, I have three, and I *thought* I was about to get a forth. But, odd things happened:
I had a RT MKE-ORD-STL scheduled for tomorrow. Since the weather will be horrendous in all three cities, I called the Plat desk to ask about options. I have several more of these trips planned and ticketed in the coming weeks, so I didn't want to just set an alternative date. Agent offered a refund. Now, I know most of you would have preferred a refund (on a non-refundable ticket), but, in my (unusual) situation, I'd prefer a voucher. I asked if I get get one. "Oh yes" the agent replied.
Agent cancelled my flights for tomorrow and said that I was "all set". Since in the past three weeks I've received both a paper voucher and an e-voucher, I asked which I should expect to receive. He told me that since I cancelled the flights, no voucher would be issued, but that the full amount of the ticket would show in AA's computers as an "account credit". Caught off guard, I didn't press this; now, I'm wondering: anyone ever hear of this?
I have a Record Locator; unfortunately I don't believe I printed anything that showed the ticket number.
What happens next?
Thanks for any/all help!!
