As others have mentioned, you may get hassled by the AirServe boarding pass checker, but just tell them you need to:
a. Meet someone arriving on an UA flight.
b. Visiting the RCC.
c. Purchase something (insert name of vendor not on the AA side, Yankee Pier, San Francisco Soup Company, Compass Books) first.
Or just use an electronic boarding pass.

They do move pretty quickly for the typical passenger because we don't have the MMW machines. Those take longer than the WTMD.
You mentioned that they added your name to the book. What information do they take down?
