I propose that the state condemn a 20 mile stretch of that eyesore and traffic abomination, Route 1/9, and turn it into one long continuous runway with terminals occupying the former strip mall sites along the way.

The same could be done for the multiple stretches of Route 22 in Union where it's just as bad, but the stores are Red Lobster instead of Kenny's Crab Shack, and drivers delay all of northern NJ traffic by merging from the ridiculous center island.

All kidding aside, the infrastructure around EWR is a prime example of 1930s crumbling construction that is growing to be an embarrassment for the region...
