Without a doubt, the Moana Surfrider. The beautiful white porch with the rocking chairs, where people from all the other hotels like to come and sit and watch all the action on Kalakaua Avenue. Also a great place to greet all the Japanese Brides and Grooms who come there to take wedding pictures. Then through the open air lobby into the Banyon Court where during the day you have the Beach Bar (they make the best Margaritas) with lots of umbrella tables for a relaxing drink or even lunch or dinner. In the evening, the huge area filled with guests enjoying the free Hawaiian entertainment nightly. The breakfast buffet is excellent, and surprisingly, better and cheaper than the one at the Royal Hawaiian (we did both)although the beach area is calmer and prettier at the Royal Hawaiian. The staff are super kind and friendly people from the bell people, to the front desk, to the housekeeping staff. There will always be some things that are better (like the grass being greener, ) elsewhere, but for my money and my time, I'll take the Moana anytime. By the way there is nothing that can beat the Sunday Brunch on the Veranda. It was by far one of the best experiences ever.
