The Royal Hawaiian's Mai Tai Bar is where the Mai Tai was first introduced in Hawaii.

I say "introduced" because this popular drink that has become linked as "the" beverage of Hawaii, was actually first created in, of all places...Oakland, California! It was served there for many years before it's creator brought it to the islands and it made it's debut at the Royal and became an instant favorite.

If you like steak, I had one of the best T-Bone steaks I've ever had at the Surf Room at the Royal, just last week.

Though generally, I prefer the Moana (Historic wing...no lanais though except a couple facing Kalakaua) to stay at, over the Royal.
