onedog- have a great time in Hawaii!! I'm sure you all will have a great time no matter what you do. The sunsets are beautiful from the RH. We were upgraded to a non-view junior suite in the historic building, Room 311, and it had a refrigerator for free, but I'm not sure about the standard rooms. I don't recall any free lounges or breakfast rooms, but the buffet is really nice here, if a bit expensive. I don't remember the fitness area at all since we were out snorkeling all the time and exploring, but I think they mentioned it being available at the Sheraton next door on the 10th floor. (They partner some of the facilities with other Sheratons since they don't have the room.) You may try and have the Platinum Concierge put in a request for you, but I find that most hotels are very receptive when I'm there in person. I would imagine that someone would upgrade you since you have the Pupster :-)

Have a great time and try to get to Hanauma Bay- the fish here are bigger and more abundant than the ones we've seen in the Caribbean. They even have sea turtles!
