The Mrs, the Pupster and I are heading off for 10 days at the Royal Hawaiian. As a SPG Platinum, I am hoping for the best treatment and perks, but we are just ready to enjoy ourselves and relax a bit too.
I did a search on "honolulu" and I have gone through and read all of the threads which mentioned the Royal Hawaiian.
One of the things I could find an answer for was if the Royal Hawaiian has any type of executive/tower lounge where we will be able to have complimentary breakfast and/or evening drinks? Most Sheratons that I have patronized have had some type of lounge. If the RH does have a lounge, I am assuming that as a Platinum I will be allowed access to the lounge even if I am not assigned to a tower floor room? I noticed that the Moana Surfrider next door recently opened a tower lounge.
What about excercise facilities. Does the RH have a gym/workout room? If yes, what is it like? Was it pretty well equipped? Again, as a SPG Platinum I am assuming that I have complimentary access to the excercise facilities?
Since we are traveling with the Pupster, I was contemplating requesting a fridge for the room to keep his milk and/or his other foods/snacks cold. Does the RH charge for a fridge? I thought I read somewhere that the charge was $10/day? Can anyone confirm the RH fridge policy? For $10/day over 10 days, I can buy a pretty nice cooler/ice chest and just keep it filled with ice!
It seems pretty unanimous of the FTrs who prefer the RH to try and secure a room in the historic wing. Should I try and request one ahead of time or should I just wait until I check in? Should I ask Platinum Concierge if they can help me with this and put in a request?
Any other requests (specific room #'s for the best chance of views, room #'s of the suites to hope/inquire/grovel/beg for, other nifty/cool Platinum perks or hotel nuances) that I should know about to maximize my 10 days at what seems to be a fantastic hotel?
Thanks for all the help.
