Sad geek as I am, I was looking at the TfL site which shows the three types of rail fares charged for Oyster payg, namely
- underground/overground/tram/"old" rail (i.e.where Oyster was accepted before Oyster acceptance was expanded to cover all rail routes)
- through journeys between rail and tube/tram etc.
- rail only
Types 1 and 2 have caps. Type 3 is not shown (at least
here) as having any cap. So am I correct that one can shuttle around South London keeping clear of tube or overground all day and never have the advantage of a cap? If I am it seems an irritation for South Londoners (and I speak as a North Londoner

). It also seems odd because a price cap "earned" on the tube, applies (as I read it) to national rail as well within the relevant zones. Or maybe the "through" prioce caps apply?
I know: this question is very sad
