I am based in France for at least half of the year each year, sometimes more. I am kicking myself for not realizing this card offered status miles. Here I am a lowly Silver when I could have been qualifying platinum on spend+flights. Do they charge foreign currency conversion fees when used outside of the EuroZone? That's my biggest gripe with my US AMEX, paying those stupid fees for every charge outside the country.
Since you have many FFPs, you know that FB is not a great FFP. My suggestion would be to pay the steep membership fee of a French FB AMEX Gold (if you have a French bank account) and spend enough to get to FB Gold and have lounge access. Plat does not offer much beyond Gold. Then use your other cards to credit miles to another FFP.
