I have award reservations for next September at the Gritti Palace, but the comments on the Gritti Palace in the Danielli thread makes me wonder. I'm going to Florence and Rome as well. Any recommendations on which to use the award nights and why? (reaoning based on hotel quality and location).

I've heard fabulous things about the St. Regis Rome, but its location is a little off-putting. I've stayed at the Rome Excelsior and liked it a lot.

How do the properties in Florence compare?
