Location: In a hotel somewhere trying to repack everything I brought (and bought) in to a carry-on smaller than my last one.

Pretty much the same things: cooking knives, cutlery and travel utensils (remember those?) from Germany, Tawa from India, granite mortar and pestle from Bangkok, cast iron Korean grill-top from Seoul, cedar water dispenser from Kyoto, Mason & Cash pudding bowls and Royal Doulton egg coddlers from London.

For serving stuff, I have Riedel glasses from Austria, tablecloths from France, semi-precious stone carved pendants that I use as chopstick rests/knife rests from Shenzhen, carved serving spoons from Phuket, the list goes on....

I generally don't buy run of the mill souvenirs such as magnets or snow globes but am always on the lookout for something that is both practical and useful for the home. Almost everything I have has a story.
