All remains calm in Virginia, T8.
The snow was a Big Nothing. Though not so north of us. A few wet inches that was gone from roads by morning. Situation normal in Old Town on Thursday. Though some got liberal use of leave in town from work if they lived very far away in areas that hadn't yet been plowed thorougly.
Though the streets of Old Town on St. Patrick's Day may be a little more boisterous than usual. Especially if the true blue legendary Irishman at Ireland's Own and his loyal partiers get into a scuffle with the loyal Orange lads in kilts on King Street.
The nature of street conflict is probably more of that nature here, than the type in Cairo!
Even in the 1968 riots when they burned parts of DC and tried to march down Shirley Highway (now known as 395S) to Virginia, the rabble rousers didn't even bother marching to closer-by Old Town, as guess they'd have encountered the first stop light at Slaters Lane, which used to be section 8 public housing and would have been turned back by the poor folks in Old Town whose allegiances were more with their own community than the rabble rousers' causes!
Old Town is a bubble. And we like it that way!
My only BA trips so far this year are as usual to LHR. Though this summer was planning to do an LHR-SYD-LHR trip before returning home to IAD.
But with the floods in Oz, am postponing that. It's just too hard in Oz now.
