I'm currently in Australia, so I won't be on the YYC-SYD flight, but will wanting to get on the SYD-YYC flight. If I call air canada, will they give me some kind refund/credit for not using the YYC-SYD flight? Or is it pretty much just a lost cause. I'm also assuming they wouldn't give me any points for missing that YYC-SYD flight...

Thanks!
Something I've done in the past is book a return journey, use the first leg, then refund the second half (less cancellation fees). It's worked out cheaper then buying a one-way, so I have done this on a number of occassions on TALT flights.
