Here's the real story from the Jetstar Source. Clearly, the story was mis-reported...

27th January 2011 - JetStar joins in OneWorld fares.
JetStar today announced that from February 1st 2011 it will participate in the following OneWorld fares: OneWorld Explorer round the world fare, OneWorld Circle Pacific fare and OneWorld Circle Asia and South Pacific fare. JetStar flights booked on these fares must be booked under the QANTAS codeshare flight number.
