There are trains taking cars through some of the long tunnels, the one that comes to mind is the Lötschberg, between Kandersteg and Goppenstein, where there is no corresponding road.
If the Simplon pass gets closed, then they sometimes operate car transport through there too.
There are also the long-distance trains mentioned by previous posters. Perhaps most fascinating are the trains transporting complete trucks "Hupac".
