you are planning on using pts to upgrade for the remaining nite and the hotel refuses to honor your pts for upgrade that is totally different I would contact customer care or starwood luker(being you are new to board, he freq helps out other spg members). Perhaps contact him b4 you go to hotel to make sure everything is good.

I mean if they dont comply they are wrong. it is better to have them wrong and get corporate service involved then to try to outdo them as this way things will change for everyone involved. I believe the hotel you talked opened in the past few months and is new to spg but i could be wrong

I might have misinterpeted but in the begining it did sound like you wanted to book 5 nites of hotel so u would be guaranteed upgrade then switch remaming 4 nites to points. If I got it wrong I am sorry
