I am also considering to fly to LHR and take a business fare from there back through LAX which is far cheaper than business fares from NA. Latitude fares from YYZ cost just as much as J from LH and even as SE there is almost zero R space for upgrades.

I would gladly give AC 4K for a fare if I could upgrade. But looks like it will go to NZ instead
