It really would be. They would have to be put into a sterile dispenser in a sterile manner, used daily in a sterile manner, put on and removed in a sterile manner, tested before and after is a sterile manner (sterile swabs,etc). It's really quite pointless when you look at the details.
I really do wonder if the only reason they are being used is, because of contact with pax and their belongings, for the benefit of the screeners. However, if someone were to admit, finally, that this was the case, they would be on the hook to explain why screeners and others who work all day beside the AITs are not permitted to wear radiation detection devices....
