I mentioned that I was EXP and first was full and I would appreciate it if she could bring me a drink. She said that it wasn't possible because coach wasn't stocked with anything, so I asked why can't you get it from F galley, and she said because then all the other coach passengers would want something and it wouldn't be fair to them. I then politely mentioned that on much shorter Eagle flights (MKE/ORD) they serve only plat and exps, and not everyone. Somewhat irritated, she decides to go get the drink, and I tried to give her a certificate. She waved it off with her hand without saying anything.

the latter just hated me and thought I was some DYKWIA type. (I mentioned my status because I knew the charging would be an issue on a flight with no for sale service).
More than anything, she didn't 'hate' you, you were just being a DYKWIA pax. As you stated in your last statement, you already knew you were on "a flight with no for sale service". If COACH isn't even catered with anything, then what makes you entitled (over the rest of the coach pax) to receive a beverage that is reserved for those sitting in FIRST CLASS?

Eagle and American are two (2) different carriers, two (2) different operating certificates, two (2) different policies, with different size planes (Eagle is much smaller, FYI). The only thing that links the two airlines is the parent company AMR.

As others have mentioned, on this short (TPA-MIA) route (and MCO-MIA) there isn't any type of service for those in Coach, including ExPs and PLs. I probably would have waved off the Certificate too, especially for someone presumably throwing their status around....it's NOT AAs policy to serve anyone in coach regardless of status on this short flight.

If (by chance) you find yourself in Coach on a route that doesn't have a catered service, please don't demand a drink....(sorry, imo it was rude to demand the FA to get a beverage from First, when there is no catered service for coach. This particular FA truly went above and beyond)
