smoking is a generic problem in china.
in most restaurants there are virtually no non-smoking setting. in where that there is, non-smokers are given the dark claustrophobic corner far away from any window.
this is worst for st regis shanghai, as the property owner is Hongta, the top tobaccoa compnay in china (think philip morris in china). i think what we should do is to send in enough customer feedback to the management and to convince the partner to increase the space for non-smokers.
i think they (hongta) are business people, and want to make money. we can tell them the majority of the guest are from overseas and there is some global trend/policy of the hotel....
