Question for our resident TSO's: With a swab, "the machine" tests the swab for explosives but if you are only doing a patdown, do you now test your gloves for ETD after the patdown? If yes, I can see a myriad of false alarms being caused simply by the combination of type clothing material being patted down and any dyes used in said material not "playing nice" with the sniffer.

now otoh, but wouldn't it be a kick in pants if the TSA ordered a bad batch of gloves that are now giving out false positives
They should be required to change their globes and take a clean swab to swab just the passenger's hands and toro and only after a second alarm should further resolution be performed.
