So I've been reading FT for a couple of years, and posting just over the past few months. I've saved up my AP points for this very purpose based on everything I have read on FT over the past couple of years. This is what I want to do - in June or July of 2012 on an itinerary with two seats (for myself and my SO) if it is at all possible...

Start in Canada (doesn't really matter where - I'm in YXY so I'll have to buy a ticket to somewhere to start if I want to avoid AC metal on the reward itinerary so I'm down for spending a bit of extra $$$ to get to wherever I can get availability from)

Fly from Canada to Tokyo in First on ANA
- is this impossible? it seems (at least online) the only results that come up no matter where / when I search from Canada to NRT are United options for some reason, or a mix between United in First to somewhere in the US and then in Business on ANA but no ANA Canada - Tokyo in First options?

Fly from Tokyo to Zurich in First on Thai
- there are Thai first awards open now for Summer of 2011 that go from Tokyo to Bangkok in First, and then from Bangkok to Zurich in first. This would be awesome - but I'm left wondering if it is possible that these have been open since Aug of this year and haven't been scooped up, or did they just become available ~ 6 months out rather than a year away from the travel date?

Fly from Zurich back to Canada in First on Swiss
- there are lots of options for this available for summer 2011 right now, mostly to Montreal.

So, FT experts: please tell me if I'm crazy for thinking I have even a hope in hell of getting what I want in 2012 given that (maybe) people will be rushing to cash in their AP points before the older ones expire, and that I'm looking for two seats on the same itinerary (I know from reading FT that some people say for certain F routes the Star Alliance partners only release one award seat at a time)

I'm looking for suggestions and guidance on when I should plan to call to secure, and what metal I should look for (i.e. is First on Swiss awesome on A330s but terrible on 77s or some other such distinction?)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!?
