Can't comment on the Manele Bay and the Lodge, but AAA is pretty useless when it comes to ratings. You will just as easily find Days Inns that are rated 3 Diamonds as you will Westins. Mobil is much better in this regard, although I can't understand why Mobil doesn't do anything for Hawaii and Alaska. Frommers and Fodors are both good in my view, with Frommers being a bit better.
