I suppose the use of "upwards" was meant more along the lines of "up to" in the context it was used above.

While it is probably correct that a Q400 is no more or less likely to encounter weather than a CR7, I would say that a CR7 has more options about what to do if/when it does encounter said weather. Having a higher operating ceiling (41k vs 25k) means that the CR7 has more altitudes to try to find calm air. Then it becomes an argument of probability. Since the CR7 has more options there are more possible outcomes that involve a smoother ride --- thus one is less likely to be affected by weather on a CR7 than a Q400. Now, what that marginal difference is... well who knows for sure. That's why I was asking in the first place.
My guess is that this marginal difference is probably negligible for most short flights, but on long enough flights (SEA-LGB, PDX-ONT) it might matter. I was hoping to get a QX pilot's opinion whether it matters to them or not. Perhaps I asked in the wrong thread.
