Iīm not sure whether NZ would be liable for my luggage for the entire journey or only until TG loaded the bag into their aircraft at SYD (i.e. any issues at BKK would be TGīs problem), but nevertheless - even if NZ were liable - IMO the ability to through-check luggage should be something all *A should offer (especially to their *G customers), and most other *A carriers do offer. IMO this is just another area where NZ is doing less than some of their partners.
And as mentioned above, I havenīt come across any other carrier refusing to through check my luggage, and I do fly on two PNRs quite regularly for various reasons (price, no through fare for some routes/airlines, short notice changes to my itinerary, side trips etc.)
