If your boss is near 1MM, then he knows how the system works and won't begrudge a 1K the u-g, even though he signs your paycheck. And he'll know that if you pass on the u-g, another 1K is more likely to get it than he is. I agree with the "send back a treat from F" suggestion, but it's not compulsory.
