Why would a FT member ask this? Isn't it obvious? More miles and MQM flying than renting a car.
For a moment I thought about asking for a reroute ATL-DTW(77L BE)-GSP or ATL-LGA-GSP. Both routings would have gotten me into GSP much sooner than if I took the 7:15pm ATL-GSP
In all seriousness
1) I was too tired to make the drive that night, sleeping in a hotel vs my own home isn't that big a deal.
2) Expensive $168 rental fee + gas money. I didn't buy trip insurance to cover the cost, but maybe my AMEX provides trip insurance for this type of expense????
3) Even if I waited around until 7:15pm, I could have been just as productive working in the skyclub as in my office. Frankly, more so, since I can't work while driving.
4) I figured plenty of the other pax would have realized its a 2h30m drive, which would open up standby seats. The 11am was full, but about 5 standbys made it on the flight.
