We were in a chauffered car driving south on the west side of Phuket, when the driver pointed away from the beach across the road and said that is the Sheraton complex. I asked if he could pull in, which we did away from the beach to a hotel amongst the lagoons which he said was a Sheraton. That is why I have stated it is not on the beach. So either you stayed at one of the properties on the beach (but I didn't think there were any) or our driver was mistaken and then so am I.

I will admit that my trip was a long time ago, and my fiance will tell you that I have a terrible memory. But I went back to the SPG website to take a look. It is definitely the place I stayed. Plus, the website says:
"The resort, featuring 335 well-appointed guest rooms and villas, is located on a beautiful stretch of white sandy beach on Bang Tao Bay."
Again, it is a big complex. Looking back at my trip pictures, it is clear that there are a lot of rooms that are nowhere near a beach. Rather, they are on lagoons. However, I do know that our building had excellent beach access.
