That's a recent change, and not one that ScotRail (despite also being a First company) have implemented. You can still book a berth in a shared cabin, though there is also a single occupancy rate for second class as well.
They check your name & tickets as you board.
Against what? There is no requirement to carry ID of any kind when travelling in the UK by rail. Or do their T&Cs differ from the norm like the print-your-own and Megatrain stuff?
