It's because BA's system thinks E is a Premium Economy fare (as the BA World Traveller Plus fare classes are W, E, T).
I had a long telephone conversation with a BA customer service manager about this after a QF E flight failed to post, and she admitted it was silly, but nothing could be done about it

I've written a long email to Qantas customer service - not sure if they will be able to do anything as it appears that the issue is on BA's end.
You'd hope to think that if this issue was raised high enough within BA it could be sorted - I'll write to them shortly
