Besides, "it is a federal requirement to follow all crew member instructions, lighted signs and placards." Are you causing an inconvenience to other passengers as payback for the airline forcing you to gate-check your carryon, which I'm sure would stand a better chance of getting space if more people didn't feel as entitled to the overhead space as you.
Where were those flying cars we were promised a while ago so I can avoid people's pettiness on airplanes.

If you had bothered to read the entire thread, you would know that I *am* quite tall... and I *do* have big feet... placing a bag underneath the seat in front of me (in coach) causes me physical discomfort. It's not an entitlement thing...
Also, if you had bothered to read, you would know that I don't gate-check my bag... I *CHECK* my rollaboard, so that I only have one bag... and I will place my one bag in the overhead bin.
I am being courteous to my fellow passengers by checking my rollaboard. My job doesn't work on tight deadlines like some do. I can stand around and wait at the carousel for my bag.... and I do because I don't mind.
