We are looking for lessons and rideable waves. My husband has surfed once before, in Lihue. This time he wants to take intensive lessons. I am hoping to interest my 14 year-old daughter in the experience. Hawaii would be great (though I don't want to go to Oahu); so would other islands in the South Pacific (Tahiti perhaps!)
If it were Maui (one Hawaiian island we've never been to), whcih Starwood would you recommend for proximity to surfing schools?
We will likely get lessons from a school, and not the hotel, in order to save money, so any recommendations for surf schools are greatly appreciated as well.

On Maui if you stay at the Sheraton Maui, Westin Maui, or Kapalua Bay Hotel, you are within minutes of Lahaina and several surfing schools. I think this would be a great place to stay and learn. However, if you want some good surfing, go to Oahu.
