I've been 3 times now, twice in early/mid-nineties as a child/teen, and once in 2006. The first time I went, it was a really good buffet - a little highly priced maybe but understandable for the novelty/tourist trap/location. I also got to see part of a Blue Jays game below and the roof opening on the stadium (now the Rogers Centre I think?) as well as traffic from the city airport, including a small aircraft trailing an advertising banner that flew around the tower and harbour a few times and then landed.
The second time I think it was still a buffet but it wasn't anywhere near as good as it had been the first time and probably more expensive. We complained and they compensated us by giving us free entry to the Space Deck, the upper level of the CN Tower that costs extra.
On my third visit, I went with my wife, who hadn't been up the tower at all. It was an
à la carte
menu instead of a buffet, still expensive but it was a treat for her. The food was so-so but the novelty was still worth it, even for me. This meal was at night so we saw the city light up. 'Twas a very nice romantic setting.
