I regularly check:
1) cases of wine- this every time I go to the US or to France. Never once a problem in dozens of times.
2) plant fertilizer- always 15-20kg when I fly out of the USA. Never a problem in many years of doing that.
3) grout, silicone sealant, tile adhesive, etc- I buy in the US at Home Depot and carry threm to France and Brazil. Almost every trip. never a problem.
4) I have checked Mace numerous times, US departures. I asked the first time to clarify, but was told absolutely no issue (I don't remember the carrier) and since I have not asked.

I have not originated these products in the UK, but I have transited LHR on BA with them in my bags. In recent years I have not done any of this recently from Asia either.

I did try to check a generator as luggage, and almost succeeded but it was 2kg over the 32kg limit so I had to send it as freight instead.
