Uh-Oh.... Capacity Controls/Balckout Dates?

Hmmm....

I can't figure this out, and neither could the SPG platinum agent who I spoke with the other night.

I wanted to book several award nights at Hotel X. I wanted to book these nights during what in reality is "high season" at this hotel, but is not "high season" for its Category 5 or 6 award rates, if you get my drift.

Ostensibly, SPG has no capacity controls nor blackout nights on awards.

Not at this hotel, at least from what I can tell.

You see, the least expensive room at this hotel is a "Superior" room. That, is, what I presume a SPG award room would be.

Supeior rooms are indeed available for these dates, if I were willing to pay upwards of $900 a night.

However, there are none of these rooms available for rewards.

The agent could not figure it out. Neither could I.

In summary:

A) Standard room= Superior room.
B) If standard room available, you can book it with an award.

If A and B are true, then:

If a superior room is a avialable, I should be able to book an award room.

Yet, this is not the case. The agent agreed with me and could offer no explanation, and found it "very odd" that his computer would not let him book an award.

I have e-mailed the hotel and dates to William. Perhaps he will be able to enlighten us.
