Amsterdam All in 1 Travel Ticket

Is anyone here familiar with the 24 hour card at http://www.gvb.nl/english/travellers...elTicket.aspx?

Are the train tickets separate from the GVB chip card, or do the 24 hours start ticking when using the train from the airport?

I plan to arrive in AMS day 1 and take the train to Amsterdam. Day 2 I will use GVBs public transportation, and day 3 I will take the train back to AMS. If the 24 hour card is activated at my first tram trip in the morning of day 2 (and not at Schiphol day 1), this is a great deal.
