I'd appreciate any estimates on driving times from NBO to Nakuru and Nakuru to the Mara? I am thinking 2.5 hours and 4 hours respectively?
You can do Nairobi to Nakuru in less than 2 hours assuming you don't stop for a lot of photos at the vista points. And you don't need a 4x4 there. I gave someone US$20 to borrow their beat up Nissan sedan last time and it was fine. On that visit I didn't see anywhere near as many flamingos as in years past, but I'm not an expert on migration or flamingos. But I have always enjoyed Nakuru on a DIY trip. And the lodges there seem very nice but I've only been for lunch. Sorry, I don't know the Mara.
