Why should there be ? If there is a rule like that I would be the first person to complain about that, and I would never go back to that hotel at all !

It happens once about 5 years ago at La Quinta in NYC on the 34th st, I was being yelled at I couldn't take anything back to my room, and all I had were a banana and a muffin. Since then never been back.

Many times I want to sleep later but I don't want to miss breakfast, so I just take something and go back to my room, go back to sleep and warm it up later when I feel like it. Also I hate to dress up to go down for breakfast only unless I am about to check out and leave, I will just wear a PJ bottom, grab and leave less of embrassment. If it is at the Holiday Inn Express, I am sure I would grab a few of those fresh cinnamon rolls back to my room to consume later, totally love those.
