I actually didnt want to add to this thread because it was a seperate issue but I had my own complaint about staying there when I used a free friday on the 9th that may explain the helpfulness of the front desk. Aside from the room being not very clean and not getting a suite, checking in was a huge problem.
That night I was at the Whiskey Bar at W Time Square and I decided to sleep over and spend the next day hanging around the city. They did not have any rooms so they called ahead to the Sheraton NY and let them know I would be using a Free Friday. I then proceeded to walk over, finding the front desk people had no knowledge of my phone call. Though there was no other customers around the two people told me to wait about for a half hour or so, for someone to come back from their break, rather than check with a manager, as walking the few steps seemed a lot for them. They just wouldn't check. It was only through my arguing did the person the W TS spoke to on the phone hear that I was there (after 10 min) and came from the back. He was the only helpful one. An embarassing ordeal to say the least just for a room that not that clean.
