Our first stay there a few years ago was one to remember (or really, to forget.) We were going to a wedding at a hotel across the street. We checked in, went to our upgraded suite, changed and off to the wedding.
When we returned at 2 am, we discovered that a door outside of our door was locked. Our room was down a very small hallway, maybe 6 feet. At the end, there were two doors to two different rooms. Seems that the occupants of the other room closed the outer door for some reason.
Well, the front desk and security were totally helpless. I begged them to call the other room, but they insisted on trying different keys. After an hour, they called and a lady opened the door.
Finally, off to bed. We wanted a K bed and were upgraded to a 2 br suite, but only with a Q bed. My wife and I spent half the night rolling into each other. They said that they only had one suite with a K bed and it was sold. By 4:30 am with almost no sleep and a rare night away without the kids slipping away, I got the front desk to give me (just me) another room.
By 9am Monday, I had conveyed my Nightmare on "M" Street to the manager who comped us for that night and gave us a free future night.
We stayed again, with no upgrade, in a very nice KING room.
Overall the hotel is nice, but I agree with the comments on the staff. Other than the manager and his secretary, they are marginally attentive, certainly not what I've seen at other Westin properties.
