We stayed here recently so I decided to post our experinces, particularly because some of the negative comments posted had made us a little apprehensive.

Check-in was professional, however I was not offered an upgrade - booked a Grand Deluxe King and was asked if this was OK by the agent - erm no, I would prefer a Suite please A Grand Deluxe Suite was then "found" for our 2 night paid stay. The upgrade followed a little pressure from me and was agreed to by "a manager" out of our eyesight.

The room was a lovely one bed suite (The Sakura Suite) and the decor of the room was impeccable as was the finish. Top quality. I did not see any evidence of stains/dirt/wear. The view out the windows was great and the wonderful butler came to the room to explain everything including the very high-tech curtain/light/TV/DVD controls and of course the well stocked mini bar & he explained that it was FOC just once during our stay. Much better than an Executive/Club Lounge, IMHO. we didnt consume all of the contents nor did we clear it when we left.

We had breakfast in the Italian once and in the French restaurant once. Italian but French ^. The choices were a bit, well, odd really. They try too hard to be "fancy" when they should keep it simple BUT use high quality ingredients. They did neither brilliantly, but (as with most buffets) if one chooses carefully, then its a decent breakfast. No complaints from us. Service was a little nervy & fussy but will improve with confidence. Breakfast choice is wider in the Italian. but the atmosphere didn't appeal as much as the French. We were offered refills of coffee & juice but somewhat erratically.

We experienced no wind-down for the last 30mins of brekkie and never made it down there more than 30 minutes before the end of service

We had dinner in the French restaurant too - it was very very nice and of high quality. The Head Chef came out of the kitchen speaking to guests and customised theings for Ms NoY ^ Great service too - we also used the 5,00 Yen credit towards this dinner that came with our package which helped with the bill.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. This is a very very nice property, finished to a high standard. The location is excellent for exploring the city.

OK, there are some very minor teething problems, but nothing that will not be ironed out. Surely it will be a well oiled machine soon. I would def. return as a paying guest. A lovely stay ^
