PHL, we are so on the same wavelength! I did call the room across the hall, which is how I discovered the tots were alone. And someone else called hotel security, more than once--when the parents came back to the room, there was even more screaming in the hallway.
As I said in the original, I'm not inclined to make a stink, it just seemed irritating that the Service Express people had no clue and didn't really bother until I'd made half a dozen calls. It certainly wasn't typical Westin service for me.
And gosh, I live in New York, land of the $20 hamburger, and the Century Plaza's prices really were a bit nuts. $3 for a small bottle of local water, $35 for a burger, fries, and coke. Please. . .
Interesting point the others make about the handicapped room--this was the 10th hotel I stayed in this year, and was the first without a grab bar in the shower--and the other rooms definitely were not handicapped-accessible. I think as we baby boomers age, those small touches like bathmats, grab bars, and anti-slip surfaces will just become routine.
