You know, I was always allowed to lock my bag before 9/11 with the lock of my choice, and frequently I didn't lock the bag. My bag wasn't rifled through nor had anything been stolen.

The TSA shows up, and suddenly, my bag has been rifled through about 75% of the time, and two thefts. Sometimes I get the Notice, sometimes I didn't.

It doesn't take a freakin' genius to figure out that with the creation of the TSA and their insistence on either unlocking the bag or using their locks only, the search/theft rate is incredibly high. Whether it is the TSA itself or baggage handlers with a ready-made excuse is irrelevant to me; the creation of the TSA and their need to paw through every gosh-darned thing I own as if it is their very own has opened the door to theft and the TSA is the first place I'll start, since TSA are the ones with the keys and the ones that say they NEED to get into baggage.

It's not irrational; it's common sense. Pre-TSA: no issues; TSA in force: theft and searches galore. And we have to pay for such horrible behavior and pay for it more than once (taxes and ticket fees).
