Not to avoid the advanced purchase rules. You can buy a ticket on AC.com and cancel within 24 hours, but you cannot hold for any longer. If a ticket requires a 14 day purchase, you have to purchase 14 days out and then pay the cancellation fees if you don't wish to travel.
